Aug. 15, 2018
This year we have planned bi monthly social events at various locations around the Southern Highlands. Come along for some sumptious food, delicious refreshments and entertainment from the Wingecarrribee Vocal Muster (WVM). The WVM is a local youth charity developed by Richard Lane to assist young singers and musicians in the Shire get a head start ! So far our events have raised almost $2000 which has been put to good use sending students off to RYPEN camps in May and September, helping to fund our NYSF candidate in January this year and to fund our RYLA candidate. There are a number of Youth Programmes out there and every little bit helps - plus they are great nights!! |

Dignity's Role in Homelessness
Oct. 03, 2018 12:15 p.m.
Dignity is a charity registered in Australia. It was founded three years ago in the Southern Highlands to support people experiencing homelessness. Dignity provides emergency accommodation, food, clothing and advocacy to those people who are at risk of homelessness or who are presently homeless. Dignity was founded by three women who became frustrated at the lack of progress organizations were making in ENDING homelessness. The founders put in their own funds to begin the work of Dignity. In the past three years they have established twenty five emergency accommodation centres, which house up to 200 men, women and/or children every night. An extremely high percentage rate of these people do not return to being homeless. Dignity supports them in both the short and long term so that they experience success and can sink foundations. |
