Dignity's Role in Homelessness

Dignity is a charity registered in Australia. It was founded three years ago in the Southern Highlands to support people experiencing homelessness. Dignity provides emergency accommodation, food, clothing and advocacy to those people who are at risk of homelessness or who are presently homeless.  Dignity was founded by three women who became frustrated at the lack of progress organizations were making in ENDING homelessness. The founders put in their own funds to begin the work of Dignity.  In the past three years they have established twenty five emergency accommodation centres, which house up to 200 men, women and/or children every night. An extremely high percentage rate of these people do not return to being homeless. Dignity supports them in both the short and long term so that they experience success and can sink foundations.
